Youngstown, Ohio. – The Tri-City Storm will wrap up the season series vs. the Youngstown Phantoms today and seek a weekend sweep following a 5-1 victory last night. The Storm reached the 20 game win mark in last night’s victory and continues to lead the USHL in winning percentage (.700). Tri-City has three games in hand over first place Fargo and can gain control of first place in the USHL standings tonight with a win over Youngstown and a Sioux City win over Fargo. Jake Barczewski started his 10th consecutive game for the Storm last night, and stopped 27 of 28 Phantoms shots in the Storm win.

The Tri-City Storm (20-8-1-1) defeated the Youngstown Phantoms (14-13-3-1) last night by a final score of 5-1 at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. Blais Richartz, Jake Crespi, Johnny McDermott, Sam Hentges, and Ronnie Attard all scored goals in the Storm win. Attard’s tally was an empty net goal and the 2nd shorthanded goal scored his season by Tri-City. Sam Hentges, Ronnie Attard, Joey Cipollone, Johnny McDermott, Jack Summers, Tyler Madden, Filip Forsmark, Blais Richartz, and Brian Hawkinson all recorded assists in the Storm’s offensive outbreak last night in a 5-1 road win over Youngstown. Tri-City improved to 9-4-0-1 on the road and 6-2-0-1 against teams from the Eastern Conference with the win. Today, the Storm will go for the first weekend sweep on the road since defeating Muskegon twice at L.C Walker Arena in back to back games on November 3rd & 4th.
Youngstown looks to regroup in today’s game after being outscored 12-2 in their last two home matchups. In the loss last night, the Phantoms dropped to 5-9-0-1 at home this season. The lone Youngstown goal was scored in the opening period last night by Mike Regush. The tally was his 7th of the season and was assisted by Chase Gresock and Gianfranco Cassaro. Ivan Prosvetov recorded the loss in goal and dropped to 8-6-2-0 on the season. The Phantoms enter tonight’s matchup ranked 10th in the USHL on the power play (17.3%) and 6th on the penalty kill (83.5%).
Tri-City will begin the 2nd half of the regular season schedule tonight, playing in the 31st game of the season. The Storm have racked up 20 wins, and 42 points in the USHL standings through the first 30 games of the year.
