Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm look to respond following two road losses in Green Bay to close out the 2017 calendar year. Tonight, the Storm return home to the Viaero Center to face the Sioux City Musketeers, a team Tri-City have not lost to this season. Tri-City defeated Sioux City in the 2017-2018 home opener back on October 13th by a final score of 3-1. Tonight’s game will mark the first time the Musketeers have returned to the Viaero Center following that loss. Since their first meeting of the season, Tri-City and Sioux City have battled in two tightly contested games at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA. The Storm won 3-2 in a shootout on October 28th, and also defeated the Musketeers in overtime 3-2 on November 24th.

Tri-City (17-7-0-1) enters tonight’s matchup following two road losses to the hands of the Green Bay Gamblers last weekend in Green Bay, WI. The two games marked the first time this season that the Storm have lost two games in a row. Each game was decided by one goal, and the Storm secured one point in the USHL standings in the shootout loss on Saturday night. The Storm remain in 2nd place in the USHL standings and can jump into first place with a win over Sioux City tonight and a Fargo loss to Chicago.
Sioux City (10-11-2-1) enters tonight’s game having won five games in a row. The Musketeers were once at the bottom of the league standings earlier this season, but have begun a climb towards the top with five consecutive victories. The Musketeers are 6th in the Western Conference standings and 13th in the USHL entering tonight’s road game against Tri-City. Despite the recent success, the Musketeers have the 16th ranked penalty kill and the 17th ranked power play in the USHL this season.
Storm newcomer Tyler Madden currently leads the team in goals with nine scored on the season. Madden also leads the team in points with 17 on the year. Defenseman Bryan Yoon continues to lead Tri-City in assists as he has for much of this season. Yoon has 14 assists this season for Tri-City. Goalie Jake Barczewski is expected to start his 6th consecutive game in net tonight for the Storm. Barczewski has a 3-3-0-1 record this season and a 2.38 Goals Against Average.
The Musketeers’ points leader entering tonight’s matchup against the Storm is Sampo Ranta. Ranta has compiled 13 assists for Sioux City during the 2017-2018 campaign. Cole Koepke has netted 10 goals for the Musketeers this season and currently leads the team. Assists leaders for the Musketeers include Martin Pospisil, Hayden Rowan, and Bauer Neudecker who have all tallied six assists this year. Matt Jurusik has started the majority of the Musketeer games in net this season and has a 9-9-2-1 record on the year. Jurusik has a 2.46 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Ben Kraws has also seen time in between the pipes for the Musketeers this season and has a 1-2 record on the year.
