Kearney, NE. –The Tri-City Storm needed only one goal on Saturday night to defeat the Dubuque Fighting Saints at the Viaero Center. Filip Forsmark broke a 0-0 tie in overtime by scoring the game’s only goal, and giving the Storm a thrilling home victory. Tri-City improves to 16-6 on the season heading into the holiday break. Jake Barczewski registered his first career USHL shutout in the Storm win.

Tri-City and Dubuque battled through sixty scoreless minutes in a game that would require extra time to find a winner. Jake Barczewski and Cole Weaver traded saves back and forth during regulation as neither team could find the first goal of the game. Tri-City and Dubuque each had opportunities on the power play during the first three periods but both were stymied by the others penalty killing units.

The three on three overtime period was a short one. Less than one minute into the extra period, the Storm created a rush down ice and ended the game with Filip Forsmark scoring his 4th goal of the season. Much of the chance was created by Chase McLane who carried the puck through neutral ice and set up Forsmark for the game winner in the offensive zone. McLane picked up an assist on the goal and the Storm won their 4th overtime game of the season. Tri-City is a perfect 4-0 in games that go to the extra period this season. The Storm have twice ended the game in overtime, and twice won in a shootout.

Jake Barczewski stopped all 26 Fighting Saints shots in the game and improved to 2-2 with the victory. Barczewski’s first career win with the Storm came on October 28th in a 3-2 shootout win in Sioux City.

The Storm are off until December 28th when they travel to Lincoln to take on the Stars. The game can be heard on The Breeze 94.5 FM and seen live online via HockeyTV. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. The Viaero Wireless pregame show will begin at 6:45 PM.
