Kearney, NE. – Tri-City Storm defenseman Hugo Blixt announced his commitment to Boston University earlier today. Blixt becomes the nineteenth player on the Storm’s current roster to announce a college commitment.

Hugo Blixt, 19, from Vasteras, Sweden, was selected 64th overall in the 2017 USHL Draft by Tri-City. He currently has three goals and nine assists for the Storm this season. Blixt has skated in nineteen of the Storm’s twenty games played. He is among the USHL leaders for points scored by a defenseman.

“My goal was to earn a college scholarship this season. Boston has a tremendous team, great coaching staff, and I liked it right away. I felt that this was the best fit for me in my college career. Boston University is an elite academic institution and a place where I will enjoy my life outside of the rink. Being comfortable outside of the rink and in the classroom were both important factors in my decision making process. It has been a long journey for me, and I would like to thank my old coaches and teammates back in Sweden for helping me get here. I would also like to thank the Tri-City Storm organization for giving me the opportunity to play here. Finally, I would like to thank my family who have been there to support me all of the way”- Tri-City Storm defenseman Hugo Blixt

Boston University has one of most accomplished college hockey programs in the nation. The Terriers have made twenty two Frozen Four appearances and have won 5 NCAA National Championships.
