Storm acquire Tyler Madden in trade with CIL

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm have acquired forward Tyler Madden from the Central Illinois Flying Aces in exchange for forward Michael Maloney, forward Caleb Rule, and a 2018 2nd Round USHL Phase II Draft Pick.

Both are incredible kids, and this was an extremely hard decision for our organization and our coaching staff to make. We wish them both the best in their hockey careers and in all of their future endeavors. Central Illinois is getting two of the most well respected players that have ever represented our organization. Tyler Madden is an elite player who possess the ability to open up games offensively. We felt as an organization, this trade was the best possible option for us to improve our offensive production. Michael Maloney, 19, from McHenry, IL skated in eighteen games with the Storm this season. He scored four goals and recorded one assist. Maloney is committed to play college hockey at Brown University.


Caleb Rule, 18, from Lansing, MI skated in fifteen games this season for Tri-City prior to the trade. He scored one goal and recorded one assist for the Storm. Rule is committed to play college hockey at Ohio State.


Tyler Madden, 18, from Albany, NY has skated in eighteen games with Central Illinois this season. Prior to the trade, he scored six goals and recorded eight assists for the Flying Aces offense. Madden is committed to play college hockey at Northeastern University. Prior to joining the Flying Aces, Madden was the 3rd overall pick in the 2017 USHL Draft. He is currently ranked by NHL Central Scouting as a draft prospect for the 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas, TX. Madden has been given a “C” rating by Central Scouting, indicating that he is a likely mid round or late round draft candidate. He has also been named to the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game roster. Madden will be one of three players to represent the Storm in that game, along with new teammates Jace Foskey and Wyllum Deveaux.
