Preview: Storm host Omaha tonight at the Viaero Center

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm host Omaha tonight at the Viaero Center following back to back shutout victories over Madison and Lincoln. Last night in Lincoln, the Storm defeated the rival Stars in a 1-0 game. Blais Richartz scored the only goal of the contest and Filip Larsson posted his league leading fifth shutout of the season.

Omaha is one of only four teams to defeat the Storm this season. Tri-City has won 15 out of 19 games on the season and now sit alone at the top of the USHL standings following the win last night in Lincoln. Tri-City also holds the best home record in the USHL with 8 wins in 9 games played at the Viaero Center. With the win last night, Tri-City improved to 6-1 on the season vs. in state rivals Lincoln and Omaha.

 

Johnny McDermott, Adam Goodsir, and Ronnie Attard lead the Storm with 5 goals scored on the season. Connor McMenamin and Bryan Yoon lead all Storm players with 10 assists on the season. Tyler Ward leads Tri-City with 13 points entering tonight’s matchup. Filip Larsson continues to lead the USHL in many goaltending statistics and last night won his 14th game of the season.

 

Omaha enters tonight’s game as the 5th place team in the Western Conference. The two teams did not play in November after battling three times in October. The Storm hold the season series lead with a 2-1 record vs. the Lancers. Omaha is led by Christian O’Neill leads Omaha with 7 goals and 16 points on the season. Cole Gallant leads all Lancers with 10 assists on the year.

 

Tonight is “Ugly Sweater Night” at the Viaero Center. Fans are invited to wear their favorite holiday sweaters to the game! The fan with the best sweater design will be awarded a Storm prize pack during the 2nd intermission break!

 

Tonight’s game can be heard on The Breeze 94.5 FM and seen live online via HockeyTV. Puck drop is at 7:35 PM CT. The Viaero Wireless pregame show will begin at 7:15 PM.
