Sioux Falls, SD. – The Tri-City Storm fell to the Sioux Falls Stampede 4-2 on Saturday night at the Denny Sanford Premiere Center in Sioux Falls, SD. The Stampede scored three power play goals in the victory. The loss dropped the Storm’s record to 12-4 on the season.
Despite outshooting the Stampede 15-10 in the opening period, the Storm trailed by a goal after the opening 20 minutes. Blais Richartz scored his second goal of the season for Tri-City at 13:13 of the opening period. The goal was assisted by Chase McLane and tied the game up at 1-1.
After falling behind 4-1 after the 2nd period, the Storm scored an early period power play goal to bring the game back to within two goals. The goal was scored by Tyler Ward, his 4th of the season, assisted by Connor McMenamin.
The Stampede tallied four goals, three on the power play throughout the night. Nolan Walker, Khristian Acosta, and Artem Ivanyuzhenkov all tallied power play goals for the Stampede in the victory. Kirill Panyukov also added an even strength goal for Sioux Falls.
The loss for the Storm was just the third on the road, and fourth overall on the season. Tri-City returns home to the Viaero Center on Friday night to matchup against the Madison Capitals for the first time this season. The Storm now play five of their next six games at the Viaero Center after playing the last four games on the road.
Puck drop against Madison is set for 7:35pm on Friday night.
