Preview: Storm go for back to back road wins

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm are back in action tonight following a thrilling come from behind victory on the road vs. Lincoln on Wednesday. The Storm trailed 2-1 entering the 3rd period on Wednesday and scored the final two goals of the game with under eight minutes to play to secure a 3-2 victory at the Ice Box in Lincoln. Tonight’s game is the third game in the Storm’s current four game road trip, which will conclude tomorrow night in Sioux Falls.

The Storm and the Musketeers enter tonight’s matchup far apart in the USHL standings. Tri-City (11-3) sits atop the USHL standings with 22 points. Sioux City is at the bottom of the standings with a 4-7-1-1 record, last in the Western Conference. The Storm are 2-0 this season against the Musketeers with a 3-1 win at home on October 13th, and a 3-2 shootout win on the road on October 28th.

 

Absent from tonight’s game will be Wyllum Deveaux for the Storm and Martin Pospisil for the Musketeers. Deveaux is serving his second and final game of a two game suspension following a roughing call last Saturday night in Des Moines. Pospisil is also serving the second and final game of a two game suspension for charging, following a hit in Friday night’s 2-1 shootout win vs. Madison.

 

Sioux City has lost eight of the last ten games, and three of their last five. The Storm have built off the best start in team history and have won eight of their last ten games, and three of their last five. The Musketeers are 2-6-1-1 at home this season, while the Storm are 5-2.

 

Tri-City scoring leaders include Connor McMenamin, Adam Goodsir, and Bryan Yoon. McMenamin leads all Storm players in points this season with 10 on the year. Goodsir is Tri-City’s leading scorer with five goals, including the game winning goal in Wednesday’s victory over Lincoln. Filip Larsson recorded his 10th victory of the season on Wednesday, and leads the USHL in several statistical categories. Larsson is the league leader in wins, goals against average, save percentage, and shutouts.
