Kearney, Neb. – This year’s edition of the Tri-City Storm can record the best start to a season in team history with a road victory over Sioux City tonight. They have already equaled the best start in organization history by matching the 2003-2004 Clark Cup Finalist Storm team with 5 wins in their first 6 games. The Storm enter tonight’s game following a decisive 6-1 victory over rival Lincoln last night at the Viaero Center.

In their last matchup, Tri-City defeated the Musketeers 3-1 in the Storm’s home opener on October 13th. The Storm’s stellar goaltending and specialty team’s play have aided them in their hot start to the season. The power play is currently 4th best in the USHL, with a conversion rate of just under 27%. The Storm penalty kill is 1st in the USHL, and has not allowed a goal this season. Tri-City is the only team in the USHL to not allow a power play goal against.
Reigning USHL Goalie of the Week Filip Larsson stopped 31 of 32 shots in last night’s 6-1 win over Lincoln. Joey Cipollone tallied a late 3rd period goal to increase his goal scoring streak to three games. Bryan Yoon recorded 3 assists in last night’s Storm win now has the second most assists by a defenseman in the league with 5.
Sioux City has not had the start it was looking for following last season’s Anderson Cup win as the USHL’s regular season champions. The Musketeers enter tonight’s contest in last place in the Western Conference. They have been outscored by opponents 11-18 through six game this season. Bright spots in the Musketeer offense have included Sampo Ranta (3) and Cole Kopke (2) who have both tallied multiple goals for Sioux City this season. The Musketeer goaltending duo of Matt Jurisik and Ben Kraws have combined for a 2.77 Goals Against Average through six games this season. Jurisik enters tonight’s game with a 2-3 record, while Kraws is 0-1.
