Storm blanked by Lancers for first loss of season

Ralston, Neb. – The Tri-City Storm were blanked 5-0 by Omaha on Sunday for their first loss of the 2017-2018 season. The Storm fell to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 on the road.


Omaha opened the scoring just 23 seconds into the opening period on Jack Randl’s first of the season. Randl wouldn’t wait long to strike again, as he increased the lead to 2 goals less than 5 minutes later.


Marshall Rifai scored in the opening minute of the 2nd period to put the Lancers ahead by three goals with his tally at 0:21 of Period 2. Christian O’Neill would score the final two goals of the game, netting a goal at 6:49 & 16:26 of the 3rd period. His last goal was shorthanded, marking the first time the season that the Storm has allowed a goal while up a man.


Filip Larsson recorded his first loss of the year in goal for Tri-City, allowing 5 goals on 28 shots. Zach Driscoll recorded his first shutout of the season, and picked up a win in back to back nights for Omaha.
