Storm opens season in style with 2-1 road win
Ralston, Neb. – The Tri-City Storm overcame a 1st period deficit on Friday night to top the hosting Omaha Lancers 2-1. The season opening victory gives the Storm momentum heading into a Friday, October 13th matchup against Sioux City.
Omaha opened the scoring Friday night at Ralston Arena with a 1st period goal from Tyler Carpenter. The goal scored at 13:13 of Period 1 was assisted by Marshall Rifai, and Noah Cates.
Tri-City would register their first goal of the season by way of Charlie Dovorany at the 2:12 mark of the second period. The tally from Dovorany was assisted by Jake Crespi.
The moment of the game came on the powerplay in the 3rd period when Tyler Ward blasted one by Zach Driscoll to give the Storm the lead with 10:48 left. The game winning goal was assisted by Bryan Yoon and Connor McMenamin.
Tyler Ward was named the game’s First Star. Second Star went to winning Storm goaltender Filip Larrson. Tyler Carpenter’s opening goal gave him Third Star honors for the Lancers.
Tri-City is hits the ice again on Friday night in their home opener vs. Sioux City.
