Kearney, Neb. – The Tri-City Storm announced Thursday that Kendall Grayson has been hired as the team’s Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting. David Fine has accepted a broadcasting position with the ECHL’s Reading Royals. Grayson will broadcast the Storm’s first regular season game on The Breeze 94.5 FM Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Omaha Lancers, with the Viaero Wireless Pregame Show beginning at 6:45 p.m.
“We are very excited to welcome Kendall to the Storm,” said Storm Owner Mr. Kirk Brooks. “He’s a talented young man with great talent and Storm fans will love his call of the game. We also want to thank David for his two years with the organization.”
Grayson, 23, was the Director of Broadcasting for the University of Alabama’s ACHA Division I team from 2012-17. He also served as an on-air personality on WVUA 90.7 the Capstone from 2012-15 and did play-by-play for the Charlotte Crushers baseball team in 2014. Prior to his time at University of Alabama, Grayson interned for the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL. He is a native of Shelby, North Carolina.
“I’m extremely thrilled to be here and work with a first-class organization,” said Grayson. “This opportunity provides me with a great avenue to further my development as a broadcaster. I’m thoroughly excited to meet the Storm’s great fans and become involved in the central Nebraska community.”
In his role, Grayson will aslo be responsible for developing strong media outreach strategies.
The Storm’s last two broadcasters – Fine and Jared Shafran – are set to broadcast in the ECHL this season. Shafran currently broadcasts for the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays.
