Kearney, Neb. – Blais Richartz scored the Tri-City Storm’s lone goal in the preseason opener, a 3-1 loss to the Lincoln Stars Friday at the Viaero Center. Head Coach/General Manager Anthony Noreen manned the bench for his first Storm game. The Storm failed to score on a power play with under three minutes left and Zach Dubinsky scored the game-sealing, empty-net tally with 30 seconds remaining.
The Storm tally evened the game at one early in the second period. The Stars scored the go-ahead tally with 7:03 remaining in the middle frame.
Tri-City utilized two goaltenders, Harrison Feeney (9 saves in 20 minutes) and Filip Larsson (16 saves in 40 minutes).
The Storm’s next home preseason game is Sat., Sept. 23 at 7:35 p.m. vs. the Omaha Lancers. Season tickets holders will get free tickets to the game. It is $5 for the public. Any fan that purchases at ticket to the Storm’s home opener on Oct. 13 will receive a free preseason ticket.
Lincoln’s Cole Krygier scored the opening goal four minutes into the first period. Feeney recovered and helped the Storm kill off a power play in the first. Filip Larsson relieved Feeney in the second and denied six shots.
The Storm tied the game, 1-1, with Blais Richartz’s tally at 4:29 of the second. Richartz ripped it from the left circle to beat Lance Leonard. Richartz scored one goal in 11 games last year with Tri-City.
Delvin McCabe regained the Stars edge with seven minutes left in the second. Ashton Calder received his second assist.
Larsson denied 10 more shots in the third.
Single-game tickets are on sale at the Viaero Center Box Office. Fans can purchase tickets to the Storm’s final home preseason game on Sat., Sept. 23 at 7:35 p.m. against Omaha. Those that purchase a ticket to the home opener receive one free preseason ticket. Box Office hours are 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The Storm is on the road for a pair of preseason games at Omaha on Thurs., Sept. 21 at 7:05 p.m. and vs. Lincoln on Fri., Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. All preseason games are broadcast at ushl.hockeytv.com.

Tri-City opens the season on Oct. 6 at Omaha and plays its first home game, presented by Viaero Wireless, on Oct. 13 against Sioux City. The first 2,000 fans in attendance at the home opener will receive a Friday the 13th Jason mask. The first 500 fans will receive $2 off concessions.
