Single-game tickets on sale Monday at 10:00 a.m.
Kearney, Neb. – The Tri-City Storm has released its promotional schedule for the 2017-18 season, starting with the home opener on Fri., Oct. 13 against Sioux City. The Storm’s first home game, presented by Viaero Wireless, features a “Friday the 13th” Jason goalie mask giveaway to the first 2,000 fans. The first 500 in the door will receive $2 off concessions.
Single-game tickets go on sale at the Viaero Center Box Office on Mon., Sept. 11 at 11:00 a.m. Fans can purchase tickets to the first Storm preseason game, held Fri., Sept. 15 at 7:35 p.m. against Lincoln. Those that purchase a ticket to the home opener receive one free preseason ticket. Box Office hours are 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Continuing the home opener momentum, Tri-City fights cancer Oct. 19-21, with rivals Omaha and Lincoln coming to town. On Thurs., Oct. 19, paint the ice with the Storm to remember those affected by cancer. October 20 is “Color Out Cancer Night” against Omaha, presented by Midway Auto Dealerships, to help the Storm raise money for cancer research. Saturday’s game completes the weekend with “Cross-Check Cancer Night” against Lincoln, presented by Kearney Concrete. The Storm will also give away pucks to the first 1,000 fans in attendance.
The ice will be painted lavender throughout the weekend and Tri-City will wear specialty jerseys on both nights to support the fight against cancer.
Tri-City also welcomes back “Ugly Sweater Night” against the Lancers on Friday, Dec. 8. “Taste of Nebraska Night” is Sat., Jan. 27 against Central Illinois where local vendors will give away free food samples. Those nights are among the most popular of the Storm’s season.
“Wiener Dog Races” return on Friday, Nov. 17 against Des Moines, with local dachshund hounds racing on ice during intermission. Last season, local dog “Scooby” swept the races and was featured on the ESPN “SportsCenter” Top-Ten plays for his win. Video of the race reached more than one million fans.
After a few years off, “Bobblehead Night” is back (Friday, Jan. 5) and Storm fans will receive a “Stormy” the mascot bobblehead.
The Storm is happy to announce new theme nights, including “Margaritaville” on Friday, Jan 26. “Mascot Olympics” is Friday, Feb. 9 against Fargo. Another new night, “Guns and Hoses” (Sat., Mar. 10), pits local firefighters and policemen against each other in a variety of games and competitions.
All Friday games are Funtastic $5 Kids Fridays and attending kids will get a coupon to Funtastic in Kearney.
Tri-City’s preseason kicks off at home against Lincoln on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7:35 p.m. The Storm hosts Omaha for a preseason bout on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7:35 p.m.
