Capitols corral Storm in OT, 2-1

Three-point weekend for the Storm

Madison, Wis. – The Tri-City Storm surrendered an overtime goal to Billy Jerry with 5:21 left and dropped, 2-1, to the Madison Capitols Saturday at the Alliant Energy Center. The Storm has recorded at least a point three straight games (2-0-1-0).

Logan Drevitch tallied the Storm’s lone goal in the second. Tri-City overcame a one-goal deficit for the second straight night to force an extra session. Blais Richartz took the only assist.

The Storm has played Madison six times since the Capitols’ inception in 2014 and Tri-City is 1-3 in games decided past regulation.

Tri-City held the shots edge the entire game and out-attempted the Capitols, 31-23. Making his sixth straight start, Eric Dop denied 21 shots. Dop is 3-2-1-0 over the six-game stretch. Daniel Lebedeff made 30 saves in the victory.

The Storm doubled Madison in shots through the first half of the game. Drevitch helped crown the Storm’s shooting gallery on a one-timer to tie the game at one with 8:14 left in the second. Richartz drove behind the net and slipped the pass to the left slot. The Merrimack commit Drevitch has nine goals this season.

In three games, Richartz has a goal and two points. Tri-City added Richartz as an active affiliate player on Wednesday.

Heading into overtime, the Storm held a 31-21 shots edge. Tri-City allowed both shots in overtime.

The Storm killed off both Capitols’ power-play attempts and went 0-for-4 on the man up.

The Storm is home on Saturday, March 18 for “Sammy’s Superheroes Night”, presented by First National Bank, against the Lumberjacks at 7:05 p.m. Tri-City will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game, and give away capes to the first 1,000 kids. Storm players will “buddy up” with children affected by cancer before the game and give the kids a game day experience.
