Earned assist in USHL debut
Kearney, Neb. - Tri-City Storm affiliate forward Ryan Roth has been added to the active roster for the weekend, Storm Head Coach and General Manager Bill Muckalt announced Friday.
Roth assisted on the Storm's game-winning goal in his only USHL game on January 28, a 4-3 triumph over Team USA. He will wear #15 this weekend.
"It was great being able to get an assist and it felt good knowing I helped the team get a win," said Roth. "I'm really excited to have another chance to make an impact in the USHL. My first game the guys were so welcoming so definitely this time around I'll be more comfortable and ready to contribute to the team. I learned that the USHL is a fast-paced league that requires smart and quick decisions. I also learned what it's like to play for Coach Muckalt. During the first period when I was adapting to the game he told me a few things that helped me be in the right positions at the right times."
The 16-year-old continues to dominate for Honeybaked U16, leading the club with 44 goals and 87 points in 56 games while playing his first season away from his home in Ladue, Missouri.
The Storm selected Roth in the fifth round of the USHL's 2016 Phase I Draft. The 5-foot-9, 163-lb. commit to St. Lawrence played his youth hockey for the St. Louis AAA Blues.
