Colorado Avalanche draft pick is committed to Notre Dame
Kearney, Neb. – Tri-City Storm affiliate defenseman Nate Clurman will make his USHL debut Friday when the Storm hosts the Omaha Lancers.
The 18-year-old was selected in the sixth round, 161st overall, by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot, 190-lb. native of Boulder, Colorado is in his fourth season playing for the Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana. Last season, the Notre Dame commit had 43 points and a plus-43 rating in 48 games.

"We're excited to bring a player like Nathan here for the weekend," said Storm Head Coach and General Manager Bill Muckalt. "He's been highly successful at Culver and brings a high level of talent that should be beneficial to our club."
Clurman was one of three players with Tri-City ties selected in the 2016 NHL Draft, joining Wade Allison (Philadelphia, 2nd round) and Brandon Duhaime (Minnesota, 4th round). The Storm selected Clurman in the 13th round of the 2015 Phase II Draft.
The blueliner first played competitive hockey in El Segundo, California for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.

Friday’s game is Military Appreciation Night, presented by Riddle’s Jewelry, plus a $5 Kids Friday, presented by Taco Bell. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
