13th former Storm player to make NHL
Kearney, Neb. – Tri-City Storm alumnus and New Jersey Devils forward Blake Coleman (TC: 2009) played in his first NHL game Thursday against Edmonton at Rogers Place, becoming the 13th former Storm player to debut in the NHL. Coleman saw 11:49 of ice time in a 3-2 overtime loss.
Coleman is the second former Storm player to make his debut this season; Nick Lappin made his NHL debut October 28, 2016 for the Devils and has played in 35 games, recording four goals and seven points.
The Devils called up the 25-year-old from Albany Devils (AHL) Tuesday. In 34 games this season with Albany, Coleman scored 13 goals and 23 points. New Jersey selected Coleman in the third round, 75th overall in the 2011 draft.

Coleman played 22 games with the Storm at the start of the 2009-10 season before being moved to the Indiana Ice. In 2010-11, the native of Plano, Texas led the USHL with 92 points.
After leaving Indiana, Coleman played for four years at Miami University. In 2015, Coleman made his professional debut with the Devils.
Tri-City is at Bloomington Friday at 7:05 and finishes the weekend January 14 at the Thunder with a 7:05 puck drop. Coverage begins 15 minutes before the game on The Breeze 94.5 FM.
