Storm's Penn State connections + alumni litter NCAA top ten

Kearney, Neb. – Former Storm Captain and Colorado Eagles forward Kenny Brooks rang in 2017 by scoring his first professional goal January 1 against the Alaska Aces. In 11 ECHL games, Brooks has three points.

A 2016 Penn State graduate, Brooks has watched his former teammates succeed this season in University Park; the Nittany Lions are 13-1-1 and ranked second in the nation behind Minnesota-Duluth. Former Storm players Kevin Kerr, Vince Pedrie and Chase Berger have enjoyed a month off during the holidays but return to action at Ohio State this Friday and Saturday.

Elsewhere in the top ten, former Storm players are on #4 Harvard (John Marino), #5 Boston University (Pat Curry, Johnny McDermott) #6 UMass-Lowell (Mattias Goransson, Nick Master), #7 North Dakota (Andrew Peski, Austin Poganski, Chris Wilkie), #8 Boston College (Chris Brown) and #10 Union College (Michael Vecchione).

#14 Western Michigan won the Great Lakes Invitational over the holidays and Wade Allison had one assist for the Broncos against Michigan Tech on December 30.
