Besides its use as a scoreboard during sporting events, the screens will be used for concerts, public skates and private parties. Viaero Vision will bring the game closer to fans and allow sponsorship partners to engage with their customers through high-definition commercials and advertising.
Owner Kirk Brooks, who was in town for the revealing, was ecstatic about the fan reaction.
“We discussed the idea of the new scoreboard with our naming rights partner Viaero, and both agreed it was worth the investment to help deliver a first class fan experience our dedicated Storm fans. After watching this weekends’ games, I am convinced the Viaero Center is now the best arena in the USHL. It’s further evidence of the commitment that both Viaero and the Storm organization have towards Kearney and the Tri-City area, and I am grateful to have a dedicated partner like Viaero step up and help us make this possible.”
Storm President of Business Operations Cory Howerton added that “for us, the guest experience is the most important part of what we do. This is the first step of many in creating a new dynamic and enhanced in-game experience for our fans and corporate sponsors.”
Viaero Vision’s state-of-the-art, 4-Mil LED boards measure 12’x18’ each. The screens have five times greater quality than those at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium; on Viaero Vision, each LED pixel is four millimeters apart, while LED pixels are separated by 22 millimeters on the screens at AT&T Stadium.
“We have versatility with Viaero Vision,” explained Dana Wright, the Storm’s Vice President of Business Operations. “We can move them around for different events and even arrange them in a straight line to create one massive video board. The capabilities are incredible.
“Ultimately, the boards allow us to give our customers and fans a fresh and exciting experience inside our building.”
Fans will have an opportunity to see the boards again this Saturday, December 10 when the Des Moines Buccaneers visit for Ugly Sweater Night + $1 Beers. One of the most popular nights of the season, enjoy the fun by wearing your favorite ugly sweater and enjoying $1 beers and soft drinks.
The Storm takes to the road December 16-17 for a rematch of the 2016 Clark Cup Final against the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Puck drop is at 7:35 p.m. on Friday and 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.
