Kearney, Neb. – The Tri-City Storm has added defenseman Jack Summers from the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL), Head Coach and General Manager Bill Muckalt announced Tuesday.
In 21 games this season with Springfield, Summers tallied six assists and six penalty minutes. Committed to Brown University, the 17-year-old stands 5-foot-11, 180 pounds and is a native of Livonia, Michigan.
Prior to this season, Summers played for Victory Honda U16 alongside current Storm defenseman Ronnie Attard. In three seasons with the U16 program, Summers competed in 75 games, scoring four goals and 18 points.
Summers is the second active Storm player committed to Brown (Ben Taylor). Of the 24 active Tri-City players, 16 are committed to play hockey at NCAA Division-I institutions.
Tri-City returns home for a pair of home games on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3 against Waterloo. Friday’s game is a 7:05 p.m. puck drop for First Responders Night, presented by New West Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery, plus a $5 Kids Friday. Tri-City will honor local first responders throughout the night, paying tribute to the hard work and efforts of so many in the central Nebraska community.

Saturday, December 3 is Boy Scout Day, presented by Cabela’s, and features a special 3:05 p.m. start time and one-game-only specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
