Kearney, Neb. – Tri-City Storm affiliate players Ryan Roth and Jack Jensen, each 2016 Storm draft picks, have garnered national attention over the last few weeks for their strong play. Roth leads U16 Honeybaked in goals (25) and points (54). Jensen committed to the University of Minnesota on Tuesday.
The affiliate list allows USHL teams to maintain rights to their prospects while they develop in other leagues.
Roth, a 16-year-old from Ladue, Missouri, is third in the High Performance Hockey League (HPHL) with 54 points. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound forward had six goals and nine points in three games this weekend. Sunday, Roth scored four goals and U16 Honeybaked defeated the top-ranked London Jr Knights, 8-1. Roth was the Storm’s fifth-round pick Phase I of the 2016 USHL Draft.
Storm forward Wyatt Bongiovanni played for U16 Honeybaked in 2014-15. Ronnie Attard is a former Honeybaked player as well.
Tri-City selected Jensen, also 16 years old, in the fourth round, Phase I, of the 2016 USHL Draft. Before starting another season at Eden Prairie High School, Jensen is skating for Team Southwest in the Minnesota Elite League, accruing six goals and 16 points in 20 games. This season, Jensen will skate with Casey Mittelstadt, a potential first-round pick in this summer’s NHL Draft that played for the Green Bay Gamblers earlier this season.
