- Game Summary

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Defenseman Tyler Amburgey scored two goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime, as the Tri-City Storm (22-17-6, 50 pts) beat the Sioux City Musketeers (18-19-4, 40 pts) 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night at the Tyson Events Center. The Storm is on a four-game winning streak and has won five of their last six games.

Sioux City opened the scoring near the end of the first period at the 18:48 mark, as Andrew Sinelli skated down the left-wing side and charged to the net with a backhand shot that passed by Storm goalie Carsen Chubak.

In the second period, the Storm got two power play goals to take the lead. Amburgey scored his third goal of the season and his second power play goal in back-to-back nights at the 11:42 mark, as Jaden Schwartz found Amburgey skating down the slot and fed him a pass, which Amburgey drilled to the back of the net.

On the assist by Schwartz, he tied Bill Thomas’ points in a single-season record (69).

The Storm scored again on the power play 15:11 into the second period, as Nate Jensen found a loose puck in front of the net and scored his sixth of the season. The go-ahead goal was assisted by Radoslav Illo and Brett Mohler, as multiple Storm players where in front of the net looking the puck in the crease.

The Musketeers tied the game with 2:30 left in the game, as Mitch Zion scored on the power play to force the game into overtime.

However, the Storm outshot the Musketeers 4-0 in overtime and with 1:21 left in the extra time, Amburgey scored his fourth goal of the season to win the game for Tri-City. Schwartz led the rush up ice and passed the puck to Rick Pinkston who fired a shot and got his own rebound. Pinkston, from behind the net, found Amburgey moving down the slot and sent the pass to him all alone in front.

Schwartz earned the second assist on the game-winning goal and passed Bill Thomas’ points in a single season with his 70th point on the year. Schwartz is on pace to have 90 points this season.

Chubak (15-12-6) picked up the win with 28 saves on 30 shots. Matt Skoff (13-15-4) made 23 saves on 26 shots in the overtime loss for the Musketeers.

Tri-City on the power play was 2-for-3, while Sioux City was 1-for-5 with the man-advantage.

The Storm will be home next Friday night against the Green Bay Gamblers and are on the road on Saturday night in Des Moines.

Notes: The Storm special teams in the last five games continue to be superb with the power play 10-18 and the penalty kill 27-29… Schwartz now leads the USHL in scoring by three points over Omaha’s Matt White… the winning streak for the Storm is the longest since October
