Storm Head Coach to Seek Other Position |
Kearney - Nebraska's Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced today that head coach Bliss Littler has resigned his position with the Storm. Littler leaves his post as head coach of the Storm to pursue other coaching opportunities. Leaving Kearney was not an easy decision for Littler, who has called Kearney, Nebraska home for five years.
"My family and I have enjoyed our five years here and have been treated great by the fans and media," Littler said. "Everyone involved with the organization from the housing parents, to the coaching staff, to the marketing team and ownership have been a great pleasure to work with." (Read on....)

Fans' Voices Heard - Hockey Team to Remain Tri-City Storm |
KEARNEY – The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced today that the proposed name and color change will not go into effect for the 2008-09 season. On May 2nd the Tri-City Storm announced plans to become the Nebraska Storm. Along with a name change, the organization revealed a new look replacing purple, black and silver with purple, red and gold. In the days following the announced changes, the Storm front office received numerous counts of feedback from its fans asking to keep the name Tri-City and keep the traditional colors. (Read On...)

DeCenzo Commits to Vermont |
Kearney - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced today that Anthony DeCenzo has committed to play his college hockey at the University of Vermont for the 2009-2010 season. DeCenzo is a 5'9", 170 pound forward from Hibbing, Minnesota.
Anthony joined the Storm late in the season due to his high school season. He played in 12 games and in those he collected one point off of a goal versus Sioux City on March 28th.

Third former Storm Player Makes NHL Debut |
Kearney, NE (4-03-08) - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced today that former Defenseman Jack Hillen made his NHL debut April 3rd with the New York Islanders when they played the New York Rangers. Hillen joins Bill Thomas (Phoenix Coyotes) and Steve Wagner (St. Louis Blues) as the third former Storm player to make it to the NHL.
Hillen was a member of the 2003-2004 Anderson Cup championship team while playing for the Storm. Hillen earned a Division I scholorship with the Colorado College Tigers after the 2003-2004 season. This past season, Hillen accounted for 37 points in 41 games for the Tigers, which lead all Division I defenseman.
In his first NHL game, Hillen had one shot on goal and served two minutes in the penalty box. He will be wearing number 38 for the New York Islanders. The Islanders season ends tonight on the road against the New York Rangers. The Islanders have been eliminated from the playoff contention this year.

One-Millionth Fan Wins Big |
Kearney, NE (4-7-08) - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League welcomed the one millionth fan at the Storm game on Friday, April 4th. The lucky winner was long-time season ticket holder Greg Fox. A loyal Storm fan since day one, Fox was selected as one of five finalists for the prize package. During the second intermission, all five finalists randomly chose an envelope with one envelope containing the lucky ticket. Fox told the Storm promotions staff that he has never won anything in his life.
Fox will be showered with a prize package from the following partners of Storm Hockey: Viaero Wireless, Great Lakes Airlines, the Nebraska Lottery, Crossroads Ford, 1st Inn Gold, and FirsTier Bank. Included in this package is an airline voucher for a Great Lakes Airlines flight from Kearney to Denver for a Rocky Mountain vacation, a $500 gas card from Crossroads Ford, a Viaero phone package, one-hundred Nebraska Lottery scratch tickets, a pair of Storm Hockey season tickets for 2008-2009, a weekend stay at the brand new condos in the 1st Inn Gold, and the earned interest on one-million dollars for one day courtesy of FirsTier Bank. Fox is planning to go on the Rocky Mountain vacation with his family sometime this summer, but he admitted that he is already looking forward to next season when the Storm will skate once again and begin their count to two million fans.
